November 10, 2011

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Chesapeake Bay TrustANNAPOLIS, MD – Annapolis-based advertising firm Weitzman Agency has been selected by the Chesapeake Bay Trust to provide marketing expertise to generate more awareness for the non-profit organization and its annual “Check Line 35” campaign. Marylanders have an opportunity to support the Trust via their Maryland State Income Tax Return by making a voluntary contribution to the Chesapeake Bay and Endangered Species Fund by checking “Line 35” on their return. With 90 percent of the Trust’s expenditures directed to Chesapeake Bay restoration and education programs, Maryland residents can be confident that their donations are allocated appropriately.

Collaborating with the Trust, Weitzman will provide creative message development, graphic design, broadcast production, media planning/buying, and social media marketing expertise.

“We are honored and excited to be working with one of Maryland’s most respected Bay-friendly, non-profit organizations and are delighted at the opportunity to help the Chesapeake Bay Trust generate more awareness for the Fund and encourage fellow Marylanders to participate during the upcoming tax season,” said Margriet Mitchell, president of Weitzman.

“We look forward to working with Weitzman on the tax check-off campaign and educating Marylanders about this easy opportunity to help the Chesapeake Bay at tax time,” said Molly Alton Mullins, director of communications at the Chesapeake Bay Trust. “In today’s busy world, we are all looking for simple ways we can make a difference and the tax check-off is one way we can donate to save our beloved Chesapeake.”

Weitzman was selected after a competitive bidding process.
